Typefaces were collaged from a collection of record covers from influential musicians that have inspired artist Joy Crookes throughout her musical career; including Curits Mayfield, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Made in response to the civil rights protests happening in 2020, the phrase is a lyric from her song ‘Power’ which was written years before. The gap in ‘y our’ invites two different readings of the phrase.
